Public transportation

For those interested in public transportation, there are two options available:

• Bus: it is operated by the Jordan Express Tourist Transportation. It runs between the airport and the city center, with stops at many major hotels and destinations;
• Shuttle service: it is operated by the same company as the bus, and it provides door-to-door transportation.

Sadly, there are no trains available to get to the city center and the public transportation have limitations. In fact, they do not cover many areas, that are not easily accessible for visitors. Also, in Jordan there is a serious problem of traffic congestion, that can cause delays, making it difficult to predict travel times.

Public taxi in Amman

In Amman, public taxis are identifiable by their distinctive yellow color and black stripes. To hail a public taxi, people can stand on the side of the road and raise the hand when they see one approaching. When the vehicle stops, the customer tells the driver the destination.

Public taxis in Amman typically have a meter that calculates the fare based on the distance traveled. Unfortunately, this way, the customer can not know the total price of the service in advance and can not avoid any additional charge. Also, it is impossible for the traveler to plan their trip, since they are not allowed to book the taxi in advance.

What to visit

Amman has a rich history with plenty of attractions for visitors to explore. One of the most important is for sure the King Abdullah Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque. It is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the city, with its striking blue dome and minarets visible from many parts of the city.
